ABOUT US
Meridian Communications is a family owned business and was founded in 2015. The Christian-owned company was formed to provide an imminent need for 2-way business RF communications, test equipment, and components for the Las Vegas valley area and Nevada region with very affordable costs.
Meridian Communications sells (commercial grade) 2-way communication products, precision RF test equipment, and high quality RF components as an authorized dealer/distributor from our manufacturers. All of our 2-way radios are able to withstand tests of dust and water intrusion without failing (ratings from IP57 to 68 and Mil-Spec 810G/H). More information on the Ingress Protection (IP) ratings here. All of the DMR RF products that we offer carry a minimum (3) year warranty with an option to extend up to five (5) years max, for a minimal, one time, per unit fee. All batteries and radio accessories carry a one (1) year warranty. All RF test equipment (vector network and spectrum analyzers), and RF components carry a (1) year warranty.

'Portables', are radios that can be hand or belt-held with an internal battery. Their output power (range strength) usually varies from .5 to 5 RF watts. You can expect your range to be about .75 to 1.5 miles (but can vary moderately due to building design, terrain, and / or atmospheric conditions). HP782 video
'Mobiles', are radios that are installed in either a vehicle or at a base of operation (dispatcher). External power is supplied from a vehicle battery or an AC adapter when in a building. Mobiles output power (range strength) usually varies from 1 to 50 RF watts. You can expect ranges of about 6+ miles (but can vary due to building design, terrain, and / or atmospheric conditions). Repeaters
'Repeaters', are radios that are likely installed in an 'elevated' location (for maximum range) and repeat (& boost) the signals they receive. Repeaters are commonly powered by AC power in a facility, but may also run by DC batteries too. A repeater's output power (range strength) can vary from 1 to 100 RF watts. Repeater ranges of 30+ miles are common (but this is dependent on the site's elevation, antenna type & design, terrain, and / or atmospheric conditions).

PJP v3.3 UHF "roll-up" antenna
8+ years of interest, 2+ years of dedicated research and development, Meridian Communications is proud to bring a portable UHF antenna to the market for all to use and enjoy! The PJP (Portable J-Pole) v3.3 is a "Off-Center Fed folded dipole" (aka: J-Pole) antenna that will provide a very rugged structure (weather-resistant IP34), efficient design, field-tunable center-frequency (adjustable), 400% (+6dB) better gain than a stock 'rubber duck' antenna on a handheld radio, and a very low transmit takeoff angle of <3.0 degrees (lower is better). The antenna's dimensions will fit comfortably into a backpack or similarly sized container.
The Scout series antenna will likely be the most efficient antenna (of it's type) available on the market today! Two popular UHF frequency bands are available, Amateur (HAM) 440Mhz (70cm) and GMRS/FRS 465Mhz (65cm) bands, VHF monoband & UHF collinear design (+10dBi) are coming though! The maximum RF power limit for this antenna is 125 watts. "Tuned" feedlines* (though not required, but are strongly suggested) are available for these PJP v3.3 antennas with lengths defined by their loss values (-.5dB & -1.0dB) and resonant frequency. This will keep the antenna's efficiency** and ERP (Effective Radiated Power^) output at a maximum! The higher the antenna is mounted, the greater the gain and range!
*Power dissipation due to signal reflections and attenuation caused by non-resonant lengths. **Open range testing has shown an average gain of +6dB (vs. rubber duck antenna) which equates to approximately 4x the ERP^ to the input power. (eg., 4W input, 16W ERP out).
